Luis Guzman's farm, El Diviso, sits on the slopes of the mountainous area of the Guadalupe municipality in the very famous coffee producing department of Huila in South West Colombia.
Luis is a third generation coffee farmer having learned his craft from his father. His love of coffee started when he planted his first coffee tree on his father's farm in 2009. Since then he has gone on to buy his own five hectare farm of which he uses 3.6 hectares for coffee.
His journey into producing speciality grade coffee started when he came third in a local coffee competition with his first efforts, which encouraged him to learn more and produce better and better coffee.
When we first tasted this coffee, the first thing that came to mind was raspberry ice-cream. From there, flavours of butterscotch with blackcurrant and a little red apple crispness take a supporting role.
