This washing station, located in the village of Banko Gotiti in the Korchere region, on the road south from Yirgacheffe to Guji. This part of Ethiopia is famed for producing some absolutely stunning coffees. With its incredibly high elevation, fertile soil, consistent rainfalls and years of local knowledge, it is not hard to see why.
Some 650 local farmers bring their ripe coffee cherries to the Banko Gotiti washing station where they are processed. These are indigenous 'heirloom' varieties that grow wild in Ethiopia.
This coffee is a washed coffee from this wet mill. This means that after the cherries are delivered, sorted and depulped, they are fermented for 36-48 hours. After then being thoroughly washed, they are laid out to dry on raised beds for around 15 days.
This coffee is a great example of a washed coffee from the Yirgacheffe region. Bright and floral with incredible soft fruit flavours. We have roasted this coffee to let the delicate and delicious floral notes shine and be the star of the show
