Kenyan coffees at their best are a thing of beauty. Bold acidity, viscous mouthfeel, with huge flavours of citrus, blackcurrant and berries. This coffee is no exception.
Around 700 farmers, all with very small farms which are often less than 1 hectare, bring their ripe coffee cherries to the Gatomboya factory. These red soiled farms lie on rolling hills in the shadow of Mount Kenya, which is in the heart of the Nyeri region in the South West of Kenya.
This coffee is bursting with delightfully zingy rhubarb and lime flavours. These bounce around the palate before a delicious sweet blackcurrant note takes over and a lovely but delicate floral note that reminded us of elderflower. There was only one word we had when we first tasted this coffee - “yum!”. We hope you think the same!
