The Coffee Apothecary is 10 years old! We can't believe it as much as I am sure you can't either!
Our (Jonny and Ali) favourite coffees every year are Kenyans! We absolutely love them so it seemed fitting to offer an outstanding Kenyan to celebrate turning 10!
We love the intense blast of fruit, very often blackcurrant, the amazing, citrus acidity and the full syrupy mouthfeel that is so typical of Kenyan coffees! You just can't beat it!
This coffee is from the Kagumo washing station in the shadow of Mount Kenya where the local farmers each have about 100 coffee trees on their small farms that are characterised by rich red volcanic soils typical of the area. These farmers all take their harvests to the central Kagumo coffee factory where they are sorted and processed and dried. Their meticulous attention to detail shines through in this incredible coffee.
Big, bold blackcurrant flavours burst through this coffee initially with an incredible, almost sparkling, candied lemon note and acidity. As it cools a little, a definite honeydew melon like sweetness comes to the front rounding out a perfect celebration coffee!
