Finca El Poste is owned and farmed by the husband and wife team of Guillermo Ayestas and his wife Rosa Lopez. They have faced a lot of troubles in recent times and keep bouncing back. From having a bank put their farm up for auction to service debts, to having hurricane Mitch pass through the farm in 1998 leaving only destruction in its path.
In 2012 the farm was stuck with a really bad case of coffee leaf rust, leaving Guillermo no choice but to clear out all his coffee trees and start again. His determination and passion for coffee carried him through hard times again.
This coffee is a washed Maracaturra. Maracaturra is a hybrid of Maraogype and Caturra and can be easily recognised by the beans' huge size.
This elegant coffee has notes of fresh apricots and lychee but the light fruit doesn't get it all its own way, with a robust Brazil nut base the fruit can sing from.
